Daniela Silivaș, Diva de la Seul, în direct: „O Altă Epocă”

On May 9, Romania commemorates the legendary gymnast Daniela Silivaș, known as the “Goddess of Seoul.” As she approaches her birthday, she reflects on her life in an interview with journalist Adrian Artene, sharing intimate and emotional stories from her remarkable journey.

Silivaș is celebrated for her extraordinary achievements, particularly at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where she earned seven perfect scores of 10 and six medals—an unprecedented feat that solidified her status as a national symbol of excellence in gymnastics. Artene recalls how, during that magical summer, Silivaș transcended her role as an athlete and became a national heroine and a role model for generations.

Her journey began in Deva, a small town where rigorous training and sacrifices shaped her early life. The gym became her second home, where tears and perseverance were commonplace, helping forge her into a champion. Despite the immense pressure, Silivaș remained dedicated to her passion.

Following her triumph in Seoul, she retired from competitive gymnastics but continued to hold a special place in the hearts of Romanians. In the 1990s, she moved to America but was always drawn back to her homeland. Romania remains a cherished part of her identity, filled with memories that made her the legend she is today.

Now, on the brink of her birthday, Silivaș appears on the “Altceva Cândva” podcast, known for its authentic storytelling. With sincerity and emotion, she discusses her path to glory, the sacrifices she made, and what it truly means to be a goddess of Romanian gymnastics.

Listeners are invited to tune in for this profound discussion on the official YouTube channel “Altceva cu Adrian Artene,” where every Saturday at 7 PM, new episodes enrich minds and nourish souls. The content can also be followed on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp groups.
