Expoziția „Oul de Paște. Semnificații și Eleganță”, la Muzeul Civilizației Urbane din Brașov

On April 16, 2025, the Muzeul Civilizației Urbane a Brașovului, located at Piața Sfatului no. 15, hosted the opening of a temporary exhibition titled “Oul Pascal. Simbolism și rafinament” (The Easter Egg: Symbolism and Refinement). This exhibition emphasizes the artistic and traditional significance of Easter eggs, particularly highlighting the work of Mariana Andone-Rotaru (Pîslaru), a renowned artisan known for her unique decorated ostrich eggs that blend traditional craftsmanship with refined artistic expression.

According to a statement from the Brașov Ethnography Museum, a focal point of the exhibition is its display of beautifully decorated eggs featuring traditional motifs from Romanians, Saxons, and Ceangăi people from the Bârsei region. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to admire antique pieces from the museum’s own collection alongside intricately decorated eggs made by local artisans who are committed to preserving the tradition of egg decoration. Among the featured artisans are Gabriela Clinciu from Bran and Gödri Anna from Săcele.

The exhibition, “Oul Pascal. Simbolism și rafinament,” invites viewers on a visual and symbolic journey into the realm of Easter, wherein the egg not only represents faith and rebirth but also serves as an embodiment of cultural identity.
