Google dezvăluie un proiect pentru realizarea de filme și serii TV.

Google Launches “100 Zeros” Film Initiative

Google has introduced a new film and television production initiative called “100 Zeros,” aimed at identifying projects for funding or production. This initiative is in partnership with Range Media Partners, a talent firm and production company known for titles like “A Complete Unknown” and “Longlegs.”

Purpose of the Initiative

“100 Zeros” is designed to encourage the creative community to utilize Google’s latest technological products and services. This includes tools like artificial intelligence and features such as Immersive View that allows users to visualize objects in 3D.

Collaboration with Range Media

Google and Range Media’s collaboration will also reflect in their efforts to produce films that focus on artificial intelligence within the next 18 months. Two initial titles from this venture, “Sweetwater” and “LUCID,” are expected to be released by the end of the year.

Specific Projects and Distribution Plans

The initiative is already involved in the horror film “Cuckoo,” set to release in 2024. Google is contributing funding for the film’s marketing, as noted by the film platform Letterboxd. Interestingly, Google does not plan to use YouTube as the primary distribution platform for projects under “100 Zeros.” Instead, the goal is to sell these projects to traditional studios and streaming services like Netflix.

Google’s Strategy Shift

This release of “100 Zeros” comes shortly after the discontinuation of YouTube Originals, which was launched in 2016 but closed in 2022. The pivot back to user-generated content and short-form videos like Shorts marks a strategic shift away from producing original content.

Conclusion

Overall, "100 Zeros" represents Google’s initiative to foster innovation in cinematography and explore new ways of storytelling through technology, while continuing to reposition its efforts in the media landscape.
