On Wednesday, May 7, at 18:30, the Humanitas Kretzulescu bookstore in Bucharest is set to host the launch of the album “Dan Vizanty – un cavaler al manșei,” the newest addition to the Vremea Aviației collection. This volume is dedicated to a significant figure in Romanian military aviation, whose remarkable life story could easily inspire a character in a novel or film.
The album is a collaborative effort between military historian Alexandru Armă and Dan Vizanty’s daughter, Ana-Maria Vizanti. It serves as both an informative and heartfelt tribute, featuring hundreds of personal and family photographs, including materials from the National Military Archives of Romania. Through both text and imagery, the book reconstructs the illustrious career of Dan Vizanty, who defended Bucharest during World War II.
At the launch event, Ana-Maria Vizanti (the co-author) will share insights, along with Odilia Roșianu and Alexandru Armă. Silvia Colfescu, director of the Vremea publishing house, will moderate the proceedings.
As Lt. Cdor. Dan Valentin Vizanty once reflected, a hint of madness might bestow upon a pilot the stature, confidence, optimism, and complex emotions that ultimately lead them to victory or, conversely, to death.
